County Fee Land

Administered by the Property Management Department

St. Louis County has approximately 1200 parcels of land owned in fee. Some of the parcels have County facilities located on them, such as the courthouses in Duluth, Hibbing and Virginia. Other parcels are bare land, which may be in use by the County’s Public Works Department for gravel. Many parcels were purchased by the County for road construction projects.

In 2004, the St. Louis County Board approved the Policy for the Sale of County Fee Land. Parcels deemed surplus by the County may be purchased. If you wish to purchase fee land that currently is not for sale, please fill out an application.

• Conforming fee land will be sold upon approval by the County Board.

• Non-conforming fee land may be purchased by an adjoining property owner, upon approval by the County Board.
