On 08/28/20, just before 7:00 pm, a fire fighter from Lakewood Fire was out on Island Lake when he observed a fire near shore. It was later determined to be a jet ski and pontoon on fire. 

Ann and Timothy Eliason went to go for a jet ski ride on Island Lake. After Ann left, it is suspected there was some type of explosion when Tim went to start his jet ski. Ann returned and located the jet ski on fire and Tim unconscious in the water. She performed life saving measures and was able to revive him. Both were transported to a hospital in Duluth by Mayo Ambulance. The fire spread to a nearby pontoon and addition jet ski. 

Gnesen Fire and first responders arrived on scene and attended to the Eliasons and extinguished the fire. The St Louis County Sheriff's Office, St Louis County Rescue Squad, Minnesota DNR and Mayo Ambulance also responded.
