Q1: Is there a waiting period once you enroll before being able to use the benefits?
A1: There is no waiting period for those employed by December 1st, 2024. Their coverage will begin 1/1/25 if they enroll. Thereafter, new hires will have a full calendar month waiting period.
Q2: Are you required to be enrolled in the health plan before signing up for any of these plans?
A2: Neither you nor your spouse or children are required to be enrolled in any insurance however, this benefit is not meant as a replacement for health insurance.
Q3: Group critical illness plan: If someone had a stroke two years ago, and they had another one this year would the second stroke be covered?
A3: Yes because the three month separation period was met.
Q4: If someone opts for group accident and group hospital coverages and the individual was hospitalized due to an accident, would they get coverages from both plans without any reduction from either plan?
A4. Yes.
Q5. Will these benefits be offered to Retirees?
A5: Those who retire prior to 1/1/2025 cannot enroll in these benefits but you can continue these coverages when you separate employment no matter if you resign or retire. You would simply pay premiums directly to Lincoln, the underwriter.
Q6. If both spouses work at SLC /ARC can they enroll in employee plus spouse or do they each have to do their own employee only enrollments/rates?
A6: They could do either, just not both. No one individual can be covered twice.
Q7: Are kids sports injuries an eligible accident in the accident plan?
A7: Yes, in fact in some circumstances your benefit payout is 25% greater for sports injuries
Q8: If you or a spouse are injured at work is it still covered?
A8: Yes, all three plans have coverage everywhere and all the time. There are no reductions in benefits due to other income or other benefits like worker’s compensation.
Q9: How long can I cover my child?
A9: Until their 26th birthday
Q10: What kind of proof do you need to get paid?
A10: You will provide some basic information about your illness or injury via Lincoln’s website (paper form also available) and you will bring a form to your doctor’s office to complete and submit. You will not need to provide proof of any balance paid or owed to a medical practitioner.
Q11: When can I add or drop this coverage?
A11: Every January 1, if you submit the request during open enrollment the prior November.
Q12: What if my benefit cannot be paid to me prior to my death from the qualifying illness or injury?
A12: Payment will be made to your next of kin.
Q13: If I already enrolled or declined one or more of the three plans and change my mind before open enrollment closes, how do I change my enrollment?
