ST LOUIS COUNTY RECORDS

Minnesota birth and death records can be requested from any Minnesota county with some exceptions. Though Minnesota birth records are available throughout the state, records for births occurring prior to 1935 may take slightly longer to obtain.

Applications for a Minnesota Marriage License may be purchased from any county in Minnesota. A marriage record may be purchased from the county in which the marriage license was issued.

Many people look for birth, death, and marriage records while doing genealogical research. An experienced Volunteer Genealogist is available by appointment most Thursdays in the Recorder’s Office at the courthouse in Duluth.

If a Veteran's Military Discharge Certificate (DD214) was recorded in St. Louis County, the Veteran may obtain certified copies with a valid photo ID at no charge.

Ministry credentials and notary commissions are filed in the Recorder's office at the courthouse in Duluth.
