Permits to Carry

 
 

EFFECTIVE JUNE 1, 2021:


FIREARMS PERMITS

Beginning Tuesday, June 1st, 2021, the St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office will resume accepting applications for Permits to Carry in person at your local sheriff's office. Permit to Carry applications will only be accepted in person. Any mailed Permits to Carry received with a postmark after May 31st, 2021, will be returned to the applicant.
If submitting a Permit to Purchase/Permit to Acquire application via mail, email or fax, please remember to include a clear copy of your driver's license. Permits to Purchase may also be submitted in person beginning June 1st, 2021, as an additional option.

Any applications received with a postmark after 05/31/2021 will not be processed and will be returned to the applicant.


You must include the following with your completed application form:

1) a completed application form (provided here), signed and dated by the applicant (a renewal application cannot be submitted earlier than 90 days prior to the expiration date on the permit); and
 
(2) an accurate photocopy of a training certificate from a certified trainer (earned within one year before your application date), submitted as evidence of your training in the safe use of a pistol; and
 
(3) an accurate photocopy of your current driver's license (with current home address), state identification card, or the photo page of your passport.
 
(4) a $70.00 application fee payable in exact cash, check, money order or by card, except American Express.  Please note that we cannot make change, so if paying in cash it must be exact. There is a $10.00 fee to print a new card for change of address/loss or destruction. All fees must be made payable to "ST. LOUIS COUNTY SHERIFF".
 
**Any applicant who is otherwise ineligible for a permit due to a criminal conviction but who has obtained a pardon or expungement setting aside the conviction, sealing the conviction, or otherwise restoring applicable rights, must submit a copy of the relevant order in addition to the above described requirements.
