The St. Louis County Sheriff's Office would like to remind everyone out enjoying area lakes and waterways over the next few weeks to practice safe and courteous boating while operating in and around the lakes and specifically in close proximity to shorelines. The Sheriff's Office is suggesting slow or no wake on St. Louis County waterways due to the high water levels from recent rainfall in and around the area.

St. Louis County Sheriff's Emergency Management and other County leaders and staff continue to work through the weekend to assist people and local jurisdictions impacted by this week's rain and flooding. The County is also working closely with the National Weather Service and Minnesota Power to monitor current and potential impacts downstream resulting from the needed release of water from the Island Lake Reservoir.

With water levels starting to drop in some areas, St. Louis County Public Works is making progress in repairing roads washed out and closed by this week's rain and flooding. Temporary repairs are just about complete on two key roads - North Arm Road and Mud Creek Road - and they are expected to re-open by 5 p.m. this evening. Travelers should be aware that additional work is still needed to fully repair these roads, but that they are safely passable.
