St. Louis County has several openings for community members to serve on its Opioid Remediation Advisory Committee. This is the group tasked with making recommendations on how the county can best invest the funds it received following the national settlement of a class action lawsuit involving several prescription opioid manufacturers and distributors. 

The St. Louis County Sheriff's Office is offering its popular Citizens' Academy again for residents in Duluth and surrounding communities in the southern part of the county. The Citizens' Academy provides a unique inside look at the Sheriff's Office and how it operates. Based on feedback from participants in previous Citizens' Academies, the course is being expanded to 12 weeks. Classes begin March 4 and will be offered Tuesdays from 6:30-9:30 p.m., with graduation set for May 20. Classes will include interactive presentations and tours to give citizens a better understanding of the range of services provided by the Sheriff's Office.

On February 4th, 2025 at 1524 hours, the St. Louis County Sheriff's Office responded to Unorganized Township 68r20 for the report of a snowmobile accident with injuries. 

The St. Louis County Sheriff's Office has received numerous complaints of a well know phone scam utilized withing St. Louis County in the past. The scam calls parties claiming a relative (Grandson is most commonly used) is in jail and they are required to send money for their bail and release. The new scam has parties showing up for collection at residences after these calls have been placed. Victims within St. Louis Couty have been taken for large sums of money in the Britt, Ely, and Hibbing areas in the past 48 hours.
