On November 25th, 2024 at 1:20 P.M., the St. Louis County Sheriff's Office received a check welfare request in Unorganized Township 56r16. The caller requested that his friend be checked on after receiving self harm text messages. 

Deputies responded to the 6100 Block of Peninsula Road to check on the 71 year old male from Makinen. Deputies arrived on scene and observed the residence on fire. Deputies located male/homeowner deceased inside a detached garage. The residence was a total loss.

Today, the Honorable Dale O. Harris sentenced Jackson Michael Gatlin, 36, to 156 months in prison for First Degree Criminal Sexual Conduct, St. Louis County Attorney Kim Maki said. Mr. Gatlin previously entered a guilty plea on November 6, 2024.

St. Louis County Public Works staff have completed the corridor study for County State Aid Highway (CSAH) 100 in Aurora, and will hold a public meeting to present the preliminary layout. The meeting will be Thursday, November 21, beginning at 6 p.m. at the Aurora Community Center, 15 West 1st Avenue North. The meeting also will be available to view virtually.
