With flood conditions persisting and water levels high on many lakes and waterways throughout St. Louis County, the Sheriff's Office is reminding people to use caution and be aware of the risks.

On 6/20/24 St. Louis County Sheriff's Office  engaged in a Traffic pursuit in the City of Hibbing. The suspect has been taken into custody.

On June 20, 2024, a jury found Sanussi Tamsir Bangoura, 22, guilty of Aiding and Abetting Second Degree Murder, Aiding and Abetting Second Degree Assault with a Dangerous Weapon, and Drive by Shooting. In the early afternoon of August 2, 2023, Mr. Bangoura and his codefendant, Brandon Capone Williams-Gillard, shot from a vehicle towards Paris Kadin Allen and four other men who were standing in the area of 2500 West 2nd Street in Duluth, MN. The shooting caused the death of Paris Kadin Allen and injured a second man.

The County Board approved a disaster declaration enabling the county to apply for state and federal disaster aid. Also, a new online resource page provides helpful links including a map of closed roads and a damage reporting form.
