On 3/3/2025 at approximately 8:30 PM Deputies were dispatched to the 5900 Block of Old Miller Trunk Hwy for the report of a detached garage on fire.  The cause of the fire was likely a diesel heater that had been running earlier in the evening.  No one was in the garage at the time of the fire and no foul play is suspected.   The garage and contents were a total loss.

The St. Louis County Board approved a new floodplain ordinance during its meeting Tuesday. The new ordinance - officially known as Floodplain Ordinance 69 - is the result of a lengthy process and follows the recommendation of the St. Louis County Planning Commission. It was necessary to ensure the county's floodplain management measures are in compliance with the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) regulations. NFIP compliance is needed in order for the county to be able to issue permits within a flood plain, and for property owners in the county to be able to be eligible for flood insurance.

On February 24, 2025, a jury found Michael Brian Bailey, 46, of Two Harbors, Guilty of Four Counts of Criminal Sexual Conduct after a 4-day trial in Duluth, announced St. Louis County Attorney Kim Maki. The crimes he was found guilty of took place between April 2015 to April 2019. Mr. Bailey was previously convicted in 2020 of Criminal Sexual Conduct following a plea.

The St. Louis County Sheriff's Office today recognized the lifesaving responses of 24 citizens, first responders, and 911 emergency communications specialists, presenting them with 911 Lifesaver Awards for their involvement in nine separate incidents. 

On 2-21-25 at approximately 1550 hours, area first responders and law enforcement were dispatched to the report of a single snowmobile accident on the Arrowhead State Trail located north of Orr, MN.
