Hibbing Assault Suspect Arrested After Pursuit

On March 9, 2026, at approximately 1207 hours, a St. Louis County Sheriff's Office patrol unit in the Saginaw area observed a vehicle wanted by the Hibbing Police Department regarding a violent assault that was reported the previous night.  A traffic stop with the vehicle was initiated which ultimately turned into a pursuit eastbound on Hwy 2 from the area of Saginaw before ending in Proctor.

Today, in St. Louis County District Court in Duluth, a jury found Gideon Joseph Martin, 37, guilty of First-Degree Assault, Obstructing the Legal Process, Fourth-Degree Assault, and Fleeing a Peace Officer, announced County Attorney Kim Maki.
