Prescription drug turn-in events set for April 27

Saturday, April 27, is National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day, an opportunity for people to safely dispose of unused or expired medications. Drop boxes will be staffed and available for take-back events from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the St. Louis County Sheriff's offices in Virginia and Hibbing. Medications to be disposed of should be brought in in their original containers with any personal identifying information crossed off.

Garage fire in Midway Township

On April 14, 2024 at 1529 hours, the St. Louis County Sheriff's Office was dispatched to a report of a detached garage fire in the 5500 block of Pine Hill Road in Midway Township where it was reported a garage was on fire and it was starting to spread towards the house. No injuries reported.

Morris Thomas Road construction, closure begins April 15

The first project of the 2024 road construction season for St. Louis County Public Works begins Monday, April 15. Morris Thomas Road will be closed to through traffic between Hutchinson Road and Piedmont Avenue beginning Monday and continuing through September. Signs will be posted directing traffic to use Haines Road and Piedmont Avenue.

Spring road restrictions to be lifted for portion of St. Louis County roads

Spring load restrictions will be removed on the small portion of St. Louis County roads that fall within the state's North Central Zone beginning Friday, April 12, at 12:01 a.m. The North-Central Zone includes the area south of US Highway 2 and west of State Highway 33. Some County roads in the North Central Zone may remain posted. More information, including County maps detailing restrictions, can be found online at stlouiscountymn.gov/roadrestrictions
 
Load restrictions will remain in place for highways located in the North Zone, which includes the majority of St. Louis County.

St. Louis County Public Health and Human Services has released its 2023 Community Impact Report, and for the first time, the annual summary of services is designed in an interactive online format. Public Health and Human Services consists of five divisions, and the Community Impact Report provides a snapshot of the services provided by each, including Public Health, Children and Family Services, Economic Serivces and Supports, Home and Community Based Services, and Behavioral Health.
