On Monday September 30th, 2024 at approximately 3:40 A.M. St. Louis County Sheriff's Deputies and the Cook Fire Department and ambulance service responded to the report of a structure fire in the 200 blk of 1st Ave NW in the city of Cook.

A structure fire was reported at approximately 8pm in the 6700 block of Seville Road in Solway Township. Fire crews responding observed a home fully engulfed in flames, and no one inside of the structure. It was determined that the fire was intentionally started by the homeowner in an effort to destroy what was left of the structure during demolition. A proper permit for the burn was not obtained by the homeowner. The matter is still under investigation by the St Louis County Sheriff's Office and the State Fire Marshal.

Sheriff Ramsay of St. Louis County announced today the commencement of the Law Enforcement Scholarship Program for 2024. Sheriff Ramsay proudly announced that the MSA Board of Directors has established a scholarship fund for the awarding of up to 18 - $2,000 scholarships for this year. These scholarships are due to the coordinated efforts of the 87 elected Sheriffs of the State of Minnesota.

St. Louis County is looking for ideas on how to prevent the introduction or limit the spread of Aquatic Invasive Species (AIS) in lakes, rivers and other bodies of water. The County is scheduled to receive $709,992 in grant money to award in 2025 through the state's AIS Prevention Aid Program.
