To help raise awareness among MA recipients that renewals are again required, and to make it easier for residents to check if or when they need to renew, St. Louis County has launched a new public service announcement campaign and created a dedicated phone line people can call for renewal information and assistance.

On October 31, 2023, at 3:53 PM, the St. Louis County Sheriff's Office was dispatched to a report of an iPhone crash alert in the area of Vermilion Trail and Harris Bay Road in unorganized township 55R14. Shortly after, a citizen, who had stopped to help, called in and reported that a child was stuck under the vehicle. The vehicle had rolled and was resting on its side. Unfortunately, despite lifesaving efforts by responders, a 5-year-old child was pronounced deceased at the scene. The adult driver and another child were also in the vehicle and transported by the Hoyt Lakes Ambulance Service to Essentia Health Northern Pines Hospital in Aurora with minor injuries.

On October 29, 2023 at approximately 0855 hours, area first responders were dispatched the report of a vehicle flipped over in a water-filled ditch on Highway 7 south of Highway 133 in Meadowlands Township. After arriving on scene first responders located a male, who was the only occupant of the vehicle, deceased inside the vehicle. The male was later identified as 25-year-old, Zachary Nicholas Johnson from Culver, Minnesota.

On October 24th, 2023 at approximately 10:53 P.M. Saint Louis County Sheriff's deputies responded to a vehicle vs electric bicycle (E-Bike) crash that occurred in the 4100 block of Hwy 100 in White Township approximately 5 miles South of Aurora, Mn. Both the vehicle and the e-bike were traveling northbound on Hwy 100 when the vehicle collided with the e-bike.The E-Bike rider Frank VANDEHEY was transported by the Hoyt Lakes Ambulance to the Essentia Health-Northern Pines Hospital in Aurora with serious injuries.

On Saturday, October 21, 2023, the Superior Police Department, at the request of St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office Investigators, arrested 48-year-old CLINT MASSIE, of Grand Lake Township, in the City of Superior on two felony warrants stemming from charges of 1st degree criminal sexual conduct and 2nd-degree criminal sexual conduct.
