On October 7, 2025, at approximately 11:30 AM, members of the Lake Superior Violent Offenders Task Force, St. Louis County Sheriff's Office, Aitkin Itasca Mille Lacs VCET and Itasca County Sheriff's Office executed a search warrant at 240 NW 8th Avenue Cohasset, MN 55721. Michael Todd Hart DOB 5/5/1985 was taken into custody for an active arrest warrant for escape from custody, (NERCC) on September 23, 2025.
On the evening of Tuesday, September 23, 2025, Northeast Regional Corrections Center staff reported inmate MICHAEL TODD HART, DOB 05/05/1985 had escaped custody from the facility (6102 Abrahamson Rd., Saginaw, MN).
On September 23rd, at 6:33pm, the St. Louis County Sheriff's Office received report of a SOS notification that had been sent from the Boundry Waters Canoe Area Wilderness to Global Rescue. It was learned that a male had hurt his leg, with an axe and a tourniquet and bandaging were being used to stop the bleeding.
