Emergency: Flood Resources and map of closed roads
St. Louis County office buildings will be closed Thursday, July 4, and will re-open Friday.
For the last three years, anyone receiving Medical Assistance (MA) for insurance has not had to complete the normally-annual eligibility renewal process. This was due to a pandemic-era rule established to ensure continuous insurance coverage for people. However, this rule has now ended and the renewal requirement will again resume.
To help people better understand the renewal process, timeline, and resources to help complete the renewal application, St. Louis County Public Health and Human Services staff will hold two townhall meetings later this month for MA recipients. They will be:
Monday, April 24, 5-6 p.m.
St Louis County Government Services Center - Duluth
320 West 2nd Street, Duluth – Lake Superior Room
Tuesday, April 25, 5-6 p.m. St Louis County Government Services Center - Virginia
201 South 3rd Avenue West, Virginia – Liz Prebich Conference Room
Saturday, April 22, is National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day. Medication drop boxes will be staffed and available for take-back from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the St. Louis County Sheriff's offices in Virginia and Hibbing. Medications to be disposed of should be brought in in their original containers with any personal identifying information crossed off.
Barricades have been set up and detour signs are being posted. The new recommended detour will direct motorists to use Highways 7, 27 and 5. St. Louis County Public Works will continue to monitor the condition of Highway 29, which is a gravel road, and reopen it when conditions allow.
