St. Louis County Public Works is studying the two-mile segment of Midway Road between Highway 194 in Hermantown and North Pike Lake Road in Canosia Township, along with a short segment of Martin Road that connects to it. This corridor has a variety of safety concerns including a high density of access points and additional intersections with frontage roads, an aging traffic signal, lack of accommodations for pedestrians and bicyclists along a road that is heavily traveled by large vehicles, and other issues.

On September 14th, at 2:20pm, the St. Louis County Sheriff's Office received a 911 call from a wife, reporting that her husband, who is suffering from dementia, had left their residence at approximately 1:30pm and had not returned.  The residence is on the Rivers Road which is just south of Tower.    

On September 13, 2025, The St Louis County Sheriff's Office responded to the 6000 Block area of Olson Drive for a report of a home and barn that had been burglarized.

St. Louis County Public Works is developing an Active Transportation Plan to improve safety and travel opportunities along West Arrowhead Road for pedestrians, bicyclists and other non-motorized users. County engineers will host a public meeting to gather input from people who travel on the West Arrowhead Road corridor in Duluth. The meeting will be Tuesday, September 23, from 6-8 p.m. at the Hermantown YMCA, 4289 Ugstad Road in Hermantown. The CN Railroad will be completing work on a railroad crossing on Highway 7 near the city of Iron Junction, southwest of Eveleth beginning on Monday, September 15. Highway 7 will be closed to thru traffic for the duration of the week. The crossing is located between Old Mesabe Road and Ramshaw Road North.
