On Sunday May 28th at approximately 2:32 P.M. St. Louis County Sheriff's Deputies, Gnesen, Rice Lake, Fredenberg, Normanna, Cotton, Ellsburg and MN Air National Guard Fire Departments responded to the report of a structure fire on the 4300 blk of Three Lakes Road in Gnesen Township. One injury is reported.

On May 29th, 2023, at approximately 0405 A.M., area fire departments, first responders, and medical units were dispatched to a call of a structure fire located in Unorganized Township 56R-16, which is in the area of Makinen Township, Southeast of Eveleth, MN. Four were injured.

The 2023 Minnesota legislative session has come to a close. While details in various large bills passed during the session's final weekend are still being calculated and analyzed, St. Louis County leaders are thanking lawmakers for the support they have shown for county legislative priorities.

Spring load restrictions will be removed on most St. Louis County roads beginning Wednesday, May 24, at 12:01 a.m. Some limited county roads - most of them with gravel surfaces - will continue to be posted with weight restrictions due to their individual condition.
