All parties involved in the assault fled the scene prior to the arrival of law enforcement.  Both the Victim and Suspect were located quickly and both received medical treatment at a local hospital. 

St. Louis County Public Works crews have made repairs and re-opened Hwy 5, which had been closed due to a failed culvert.

 A portion of Highway 5 south of Side Lake is temporarily closed after a culvert failed causing a partial washout. Detour signs are being posted directing travelers to use Green Rock Road, Sturgeon Road and McCarthy Beach Road as an alternate route.

All 47 county roads that had to be closed temporarily due to flooding and damage caused by high water from rapidly melting snow are now reopened.

Highway 29, a gravel road north of Meadowlands, which was closed due to deteriorating condition caused by excessive traffic during spring thaw, remains closed. 

St. Louis County Public Works will host a public open house to provide information and gather input on potential route options for a trail system to connect the urban area of Eveleth (west of Highway 53) and the Midway neighborhood to the new Rock Ridge School campus. The open house will be Tuesday, May 9, from 5-7 p.m. at the Athletic Commons at the new Rock Ridge High School, 1403 Progress Parkway in Virginia.
