The spring thaw combined with melting snow runoff has now forced the closure of another road in Meadowlands Township. Highway 29 is now closed to all through traffic. It had been part of the designated detour route while the Highway 133 bridge across the Whiteface River is being rebuilt.

Barricades have been set up and detour signs are being posted. The new recommended detour will direct motorists to use Highways 7, 27 and 5. St. Louis County Public Works will continue to monitor the condition of Highway 29, which is a gravel road, and reopen it when conditions allow.

The quick melting snow and resulting runoff has led to flooded roads, road washouts and some culvert washouts in various parts of the county. St. Louis County Public Works crews are monitoring conditions and making repairs as needed. A map showing current road closures, as well as other resources related to flooding, can be found at stlouiscountymn.gov/flood. 

The township road has become an unofficial detour while the county is rebuilding the bridge on Hwy 133 that crosses the Whiteface River.

A judge sentenced Jordan William Carter to 180 months for causing the death of three-year-old Cameron Gordon.

Grandma's Marathon and St. Louis County Emergency Management hosted a table top exercise for public safety personnel throughout St. Louis and Lake Counties. The exercise focused on three threats/hazards the marathon might face and is designed to raise awareness of local and regional resources available, and the roles of race officials, fire departments, law enforcement, EMS, key community agencies and other partners who would work together in response to any incident on race day.
