County hires new Property Management Director

St. Louis County has hired Shane Peterson to lead its Property Management Division. In this role, he will manage a team of more than 70 staff responsible for the maintenance and repair of county buildings, facilities and grounds located throughout the county. This includes three Courthouses in Duluth, Virginia and Hibbing; Government Services Centers in Duluth, Ely, Hibbing and Virginia; specialized buildings such as the Jail, Emergency Operations Center and Public Safety Building; the historic St. Louis County Depot, and others

On January 10, 2025, Reed Erickson, 69, of Side Lake, pleaded guilty to gross misdemeanor Misconduct of a Public Employee for acts that occurred during his time as executive director of the Cook Housing and Redevelopment Authority (“Cook HRA”). When Mr. Erickson resigned, he paid himself $18,982.90 in “unused vacation time” to which he admitted he was not entitled.
